Warnings :

This simplified geological map was realized with the help of the geological maps (1/50 000) of the "Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières" (BRGM), by consultation of the server InfoTerre.

The purpose of this simplified map is to present a general view of the geology of Touraine. For very precise details of a part of the covered zone, you will have to obtain the corresponding geological map or consult the server InfoTerre. I stopped in the limits of Indre-et-Loire, which correspond about to those of Touraine.

For concerns of legibility, I grouped together the 3 elements of Turonian (clayey chalk, micaceous chalk and yellow tuffeau) into a single color. More often than not, the outcrops of Turonian are limited to the top of the formation.

I also grouped together the chalk of Villedieu and the white chalk with flint (chalk of Blois) in calcareous Senonian, that I distinguished from clayey-siliceous formations of Senonian.

Some outcrops of Miocene faluns were not drawn because of their small size.

I grouped together the modern, recent and ancient alluviums. Many terraces of ancient alluviums were not drawn because of their weak area.

I also chose not to copy over this map silts of plateaus and wind sands which cover nevertheless a big part of Touraine. These superficial formations present a very weak thickness (some metres at most).

The colluviums of hillsides and bottoms of small valleys were also omitted.

Finally, the faults were not represented.
